John and Roy have been doing a cracking job on assembling our February 1944 American Willys Jeep.

The engine is mounted and within the last few weeks the engine fired for the first time since the 1960’s. Our Jeep is a real war veteran having been supplied to the Australian Army in early 1944 until being decommissioned from the Army in 1960’s!

The next major job is to recommission the cooling system, the original radiator is due to be sent off for overhaul where it will be re-cored.

As the weeks pass the iconic design of Jeep is taking form and the light at the end of the tunnel of this 4 year restoration gets ever bigger! With most of the engine work complete the fenders were fitted and the front grill gave our Willys the unmistakable look of the “Jeep”.

Once she is restored it will attend local Fetes and public events to help spread the word of the Wings Museum and of course the remembrance of all those who served and died in World War Two.
